Brenda Kimble, President
Brenda Kimble, PresidentCurrent Term to 2019. Brenda Kimble is serving her second term as a member of the Youngstown Board of Education and is the current President. 

Mrs. Kimble graduated from Chaney High School and is a mother of four children who were also graduates of Chaney. She also has two stepsons and is a grandmother of five. She has dedicated over 30 years volunteering with various programs e.g. Ohio State Young Scholars, Underground Railroad, MacGyver’s Science Team, school music and Band supporter, Destination Imagination, Sojourn to the Past and the Parent-Teacher Organizations.

Mrs. Kimble is a member of the Third Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Dr. Morris W. Lee. She serves on the Nurse’s Guild, Cradle Roll, Angel Tree Ministries, Girl Scouts and is a Preschool Sunday School teacher. She is currently attending Youngstown State University pursuing a degree in Education.

Current Term to 2019: Michael Murphy is serving his third term as a member of the Youngstown Board of Education and is the current vice-president. 
 
Jacqueline Adair

Current term to 2018: Jacqueline (Jackie) Adair is serving her first term on the Board. She serves on the Finance/Business/Non-Certificated Committee and the Curriculum/Extra Curricular/Sports Committee along with being a representative on the Academic Distress Commission. 

 

Mrs. Adair is a life-long resident of the city, attending and graduating with honors from East High School as a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). Jackie graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Combined Sciences and a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A) with an emphasis in Human Resources and Labor Relations. She completed education courses from Notre Dame College and must take the Praxis exam in order to receive her teaching license in middle school math and science. She also has taken Masters courses in Education Administration at Youngstown State.

 

Mrs. Adair is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Mu Omega Chapter of Youngstown. She pledged Delta Delta undergraduate chapter at Youngstown State in the 1960s!

 

Mrs. Adair has spent the last 15 years working as a substitute teacher in numerous school districts, including Youngstown City. She also worked more than 10 years as a supervisor and general foreman in the mail processing department of the U.S. Postal Service, Youngstown, Ohio. She is currently teaching and tutoring young adults who are pursuing their G.E.D.s.

 

Mrs. Adair is the widow of Ronald G. Adair and the mother of two (2),

Dr. Regina M. Adair-Blackwell who practices in Indianapolis, Indiana and Ronald A. Adair who owns and operates a business in Greensboro, NC.

Dr. Adair and Brent Blackwell have two children, Sydney and Samantha.

Dario Hunter
Dario Hunter

Current Term to 2019: Dario Hunter is serving his first term as a member of the Youngstown Board of Education.

Hunter graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in History (B.A.), the University of Detroit Mercy with a Juris Doctor (J.D.), the University of Windsor (Canada) with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Wayne State University with a Master of Laws in Labor and Employment Law (LL.M.).

Hunter formerly practiced immigration law in Canada and environmental law in Israel. He has previously taught high school English and is currently a college paralegal studies instructor. He is a recipient of the ETS Recognition of Excellence Award for exceptional performance on the Praxis II Social Studies teacher certification exam.

Hunter is the founder and President of the 6th Ward Citizens Coalition, Chair of the Mahoning Valley Pride Center, a member of the Jewish Community Relations Council, a member of the Resident Council for the Raymond J. Wean Foundation, and a Board Member of Ohev Tzedek - Shaarei Torah synagogue.

He is an ordained rabbi and serves as the volunteer rabbi for Ohio State Penitentiary.

Current Term to 2019. Corrine Sanderson is serving her first term as a member of the Youngstown Board of Education. Ms. Sanderson serves as the Liaison for the Personnel Committee.
 
Ms. Sanderson is a life-time resident of Youngstown and a product of the Youngstown City School District. She is a licensed foster parent; a Mahoning County licensed High School Teacher by the State of Ohio and works for Victory Christian Center. Ms. Sanderson is also a member of the Youngstown City Parent Teacher Organization, the Rocky Ridge Neighborhood Association and Chaney Circle Block Watch.
 
Ronald Shadd
Ronald Shadd

Ronald A. Shadd is a committed father; and uncle and relative to children within the Youngstown City School District.  He is a life-long resident of Youngstown, and a graduate of Chaney High School and Thiel College with a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy. Ronald has several years of experience in Early Childhood Education, Youth and Adult Workforce and Career Pathways, Fatherhood Initiative programming, and has been involved with several Community Organizations and Projects.

A quote of great inspiration for Ronald is by Helen Keller, which reads:

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.

I will not refuse to do the something I can do.”

 

Working to make a positive impact in the Youngstown City School District is “the something that Ronald can do.” He believes that if we as a community inspire our youth to find and cultivate their “something” while integrating education as the #1 priority, our school district will reach great achievements. The Mahoning Valley is on the horizon of change and economic growth. Education is the key for Youngstown’s life-long citizens and their generations to prosper from that growth.  Ronald will work to ensure that the youth and adults of the Youngstown City School District are prepared for the future by having the ability to prosper within the new economic climate entering the Mahoning Valley. The education of our youth, supporting their families, and strengthening our public school system are how we improve upon all aspects of our city. Mr. Shadd serves on the Finance/Business/Non-Certificated committees and is also a representative for the YEC Steering Committee and the Student Achievement Liaison.

Jerome Williams
Jerome Williams

Jerome Williams is single and has been employed for 23 years as a Deputy Sheriff for Mahoning County.  He graduated from East High in Youngstown and believes deeply that education is the path to economic recovery. Mr. Williams serves on the Certificated Personnel/Legal/Legislative Policy Committee and the Curriculum/Extra Curricular/Sports Committee. 

He attended Wilberforce University, Wilberforce, Ohio where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management; Hondros College, Columbus, Ohio where he received his Associates in Applied Science in Real Estate; Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant and received his Masters of Science in Administration.

His priorities is to achieve academic excellence in the Youngstown City Schools.  To increase enrollment and to assist the district in dealing with a shrinking budget by helping the  them become efficient and more fiscally responsible.

He feels that in order to achieve academic excellence in the Youngstown City Schools we must get the students, teachers, and the community working together toward a united vision and mission.
