East ROTC Visits MLK Fifth Graders
East ROTC students visited MLK April 28, 2017.  Students in fifth grade particpated in activties lead by ROTC students.  They taught our students how important it is to follow directions.  Our fifth graders learned about leadership qualities and teamwork.  They encouraged our students to always keep trying! 
Earth Day Activities
On April 21, 2017 fifth and sixth graders participated in Earth Day activities.  Students painted bird houses and cleaned up around the school.  The students walked the streets and picked up trash that was beside the road.  
Love Rocks!
On February 16th, 3-6 grade students had the opportunity to hear a special story about two little girls.  The students learned about sharing love and joy by creating "love" rocks.  The children pasted fabric hearts onto rocks.  They were told to keep one and share the other to someone in need of love and joy! 
YSU Student Athletes Visit First Grade
YSU student athletes visited Mrs. Czopur and Mrs. Skretta's first grade class. They talked about teamwork and each student got their own book!
Mrs. King
WKBN has selected Sharon King, a 2 nd grade Intervention Specialist from Martin Luther Elementary School to receive the Creative Classroom award. Sharon is one of four winners selected for the Caring for Our Community campaign that honors local teachers who instill creativity in their classrooms. She was surprised by WKBN in her classroom Monday, December 19th . the segment will air on WKBN on December 29th at 5:00 p.m. The idea came to her during a Read A Loud. She was reading Bring Me Some Apples and I’ll Make You Pie: A Story About Edna Lewis by Robbin Gourley. She had brought in some herbs and vegetables from her personal garden and was in awe with her student’s responses. Sharon plans to purchase Hydroponic systems with the five-hundred-dollar award. The students will plant a school garden with the Neighborhood Block Watch neighbors. She is deeply honored, humbled to be selected as one of the WKBN recipients of the Caring for Our Community Creative Classroom awards.
Halloween Parade
Students walked around the school enjoying the Halloween festivities.
