Dear Parents:

I want like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this year. My name is Mrs. Neena Bansal. I love teaching Math and I care deeply about each of my students. I believe that all my students can grow and develop with hard work and dedication. The main goal of my class is to help students learn Geometry in real life context and at the same time prepare for upcoming state test.

Over the course of this year, we will cover a wide variety of topics as required by Common Core State Standards; listed in the attached syllabus overview. All the course requirements like materials needed, grading scale and classroom procedures are outlined below.

If you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for conference over phone and personal meetings any day during school hours. Our school phone number is (330) 744 7923

I am excited about working with your child. I welcome questions or comments, and am looking forward to a great year!

a. Textbook (Optional)

b. A three-ring binder to keep class assignments, worksheets and activities.

c. An adequate supply of pencils, pens, erasers and paper.

Grades will be calculated on the number of points earned out of the total number of possible points.

3 Grading Procedure:

a. Daily routine: Students will be required to take down notes. Everything presented in class (with all examples) must be taken down on loose leaf paper. All class assignments and notes taken must be organized by date in a three ring binder. The binder will be graded for credit from time to time.

b. Home assignments: Assignments will be given as homework most of the times and will be due the following school day. All work must be shown for each problem and must be turned in on a loose sheet with their name, grade, period and date clearly written on it. Late work may be accepted but only if the student has missed school for an excused reason. Home-work is a big part of the students’ final grade earned in the course.

c. Online Work: From time to time we will be working on various online websites to support learning and do independent practice of geometry concepts learned in class. This work will also be graded and will be a part of the final grade in class.

d. Tests: A test will be given at the end of every chapter. If the chapter is too long, it may be divided into two parts. If a student misses a test for any reason, he or she will be given the test the day he or she arrives. The student will be responsible for making arrangements with the teacher for taking the test.

e. Attendance: A student’s excused absence will not affect their grade unless the makeup work is not completed on time. Students have two days for each day of absence to complete all missed assignments.

f. Participation – Students are expected to participate in classroom discussions and activities in a positive manner to earn full credit for class work.
