Who We Are
The Ohio State University Office of Diversity and Inclusion Young Scholars Program is an exceptional opportunity for academically gifted-first generation college students with financial need. Those scholars in good standing upon high school graduation will receive an appropriate financial aid package that includes a generous scholarship (the amount varies based on family income, but the average scholarship amount for the Youngstown office is $15,649 per year for 4 years). The Young Scholars Program has served 3,000 students state wide since 1988 and continues to aid its students through pre-college preparation programs and intensive college advising.
In Particular, YSP Seeks To:
• Enhance the academic preparation of Scholars for
success at Ohio State.
• Increase the numbers of first-generation, targeted
underrepresented students with economic
need/economically-challenged backgrounds at Ohio State.
• Complement instruction offered during the academic year.
