We provide the foundation for instruction through curriculum used by teachers in K-12 as determined by the state’s Academic Content Standards and the Pacing Guides created within our district. Instruction delivered through hands-on instruction, team teaching, differentiated instruction, technology, and the latest instructional materials provides our students the rigor needed for strong academic development.
The expectation of the Curriculum Department is that each supervisor be an expert in his/her field of study. Their knowledge of curriculum and materials provides the classroom support necessary for high student achievement. Along with professional guidance counselors, we provide students the support necessary to make informed course and career choices.
Programs and grants initiated by the Curriculum Department have provided invaluable resources within the classroom. These include Math and Literacy Coaches, the Read 180 and Waterford Reading Programs, Scantron and DIBELS testing, and the Reading First Grant.
The department provides opportunities for students to participate in educational field trips and math, science, and language arts competitions. At every school, instruction is also provided in the fine and performing arts and physical education. Extracurricular activities include a variety of athletic programs. With these offerings, students are provided the tools to become well-rounded young adults.
