On March 6, 2013, I released my Revitalization Plan II plan to the Academic Distress Commission. This plan expands on our previous work and addresses critical issues facing this district—choice, student achievement and our fiscal responsibility to Youngstown taxpayers.
You will note the title of the plan is Increasing Student Achievement through Choice. And, that’s what we will do! Next fall, Youngstown City Schools will open new programs, redesign and relocate existing programs and offer more educational pathways to our students.
Never before has Youngstown City Schools been able to say it is on the cutting edge of program choices for families. Beginning next fall, families with students as young as grade three will have new options to explore pathways to college or careers and gain a better understanding of how to achieve their dreams.
My colleagues, our parents and the general community will soon have more opportunities to hear about these exciting new choices for students. Look for meeting dates and/or application materials which will be posted on this site and will be available in our schools.
Let me take this opportunity to say that I have been extremely impressed with the dedication I have witnessed inside our schools and the overwhelming support from our community. This is a great community and it deserves a GREAT school district. I am counting on all of you to help me as we prepare our new programs and schools for fall.
